I love how Thomas Jefferson, in the middle of his life, donates his entire collection of books to Congress after the burning of Washington and still manages to buy back a huge collection afterward. THAT, my lady, is a true biblioholic. He's a prince among bibliophiles.
His daughter was so pissed too. They had to make payments on the house and he spent it on books XD You can blame his addiction on George Wythe, another mentor of his back in his college days. Oh, here I go again, better stop lol
George Wythe, poor soul, was Jefferson's mentor during law school. He was a man of the Enlightenment and made sure Jefferson knew the law as it was meant to be learned. Wythe also loved books...a lot. So, he got Jefferson into book collecting, thing is, the two started a sort of "contest". To see who could out-read the other. Well, the poor guy was murdered, poisoned with arsenic, but in his will he left Jefferson a big chunk of his library. And Jefferson never stopped collecting
