Really cute. One suggestion: Change Barton's flag. Currently she is holding the flag of Saint George, otherwise known as the English flag. In the redcross flag the cross does not meat the edges and sits surrounded on all sides by the field.

Don't forget Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler and King Louis the Fourteenth aka Louis the Sun King. [link] But a great job you have done. :)

Thanks! I'm eventually doing 1000 people, but I've chosen not to do Lenin, or Stalin, or Hitler. And I've already done Louis XIV, he's #121. :)

Wonderful sprites. That makes me think, do you imagine if there was a videogame about them? LOL.

They're beautifuly made. Well detailed and with their most dinstictive features. I squealed when I saw Beethoven... and Voltaire... and Bach... :giggle:

Is Voltaire wearing a wig or is that his hair? You know, I REALLY have trouble trying to find out how his real hair was like...

Thanks! It took a long time to make, I'm quite proud of them :3
The reference picture I used, shows him with blond hair, and it doesn't look like a wig. Here it is: [link] People started having the fashionable choice of not wearing a wig during the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI, although hair was still stylized like a wig, whether with big puffy curls, like Voltaire, or 2 curls on either side with a neat ponytail.

These are really well done. Your first 100 are also. I like the unique clothing they all have. Theodora's is very cool, I think. Where's Justinian? Where are some figures like Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Qin Shihuangdi, and Cyrus the Great? Are these only about Common Era figures or will people I mentioned appear in your next one, if you do it?

Thanks! Justinian will be in the next one, and figures like Julius Caesar and Cleopatra I will be doing in the next one. But for now I'm staying away from ancient history because there's very little reference to go by like for outfits, hair color and such. My rules are really rules, their more like vague guideline ^^' I have my reasons lol and I'm not very good at explaining them

You know I'm :+fav:'ing this one as well because I think it's such an awesome idea! Quick question, are these figures going in some sort of order, or are they just randomly drawn one by one? :)
Reply
:iconlaureng2:
laureng2 Featured By Owner Feb 10, 2009
Well these are randomly drawn one by one, but for the first 88, they do have an order to them as History 101 characters. But yeah, the rest I just do whenever and however. ^^

If you do decide to do another, would you consider adding pop culture ones like Walt Disney, Elvis, the Beatles, Andy Warhol, and....I dunno....legendary actors? :D

:iconlaureng2:
laureng2 Featured By Owner Feb 10, 2009
I'm sorry Brina, but I only keep it after the Romans and before WWI. Disney, Elvis, and the Beatles, etc are really modern. However! I'm sure there are some legendary actors before WWI that I shall look up. Sorry! D:

Okay. :) One actor that does come to mind is Lon Chaney Sr., or the Man of a Thousand Faces. Famous during the silent era of films, but it's kind of cutting it close with WWI.

laureng2 Featured By Owner Feb 9, 2009
Well here's the thing...every person I draw, I have read about or someone has suggested I draw them and I've looked them up. Also being a history major, you run into a lot of cool people so it turned out to be surprisingly easy to list 200 people ^-^ Since you love history too, you could probably suggest people for me to draw in the next 100. :) But I'll tell ya, I like to keep it after the Romans to before WWI with only a few exceptions (Doctor Who, Winston Churchill and Anne Frank). Also, as you've probably noticed, I keep it to the Western World. No Japanese, Chinese, those of the Middle East, etc. (Only because it follows History 101 comics, I don't hate these people ^^; )So yeah, I'm kinda picky but I would love it for you to help me out ^^

I'll be glad to help! Where do you go to college? I already know I want to get a major in U.S. History. Western history (and the ear a between the Romans and WW2) is my specialty. I'll run though who you already have and see if I can think of anyone.

I go to the University of Mary Washington right in Fredericksburg, VA. This school practically revolves around US History because of its location. I'm within walking distance of the Monroe Museum, an old masonic graveyard, the Fredericksburg battlefield and the Mary Washington house. ^-^ Mount Vernon, George Washington's home is also really close by car. Thanks for your help!

Have you done H.G. Wells. I believe he has been called the Father of Science Fiction (and the 'stash is awesome to). It sounds like a great college!

H.G. Wells is a little modern, but I'll keep him in mind as he did participate in the beginnings of a new genre of literature. :)

Robert Hooke? The man who discovered cells. He lived from 1635-1703 and had a little feud with Issac Newton about who got the credit for the laws of gravity.
